By using documented historical fact, Madison Grant proved that the colonial stock who opened up America for settlement were primarily of Northwestern European stock, with particular emphasis on its English and Ulster Scots roots. He goes on to show how America reached its greatest degree of racial homogeneity in 1860 and that later immigration from all parts of the world was undermining this founding stock. Grant's predictions of what would happen if unlimited immigration was allowed once again, and if the existing racial problems left by slavery and illegal Mexican immigration were not addressed, make sobering reading. Contains all the original maps and two new appendices which details how the Anti-Defamation League sought to suppress this book; and a 2006 study which showed that the number of Americans born with blue eyes had dropped from 1 in 2 in 1900 to less than 1 in 6 in 2000-proof of the accuracy of Grant's predictions that unlimited immigration would lead to the de-Nordicization of America. Completely reset. Contains all original text and illustrations.

Very interesting tome. Written in 1933 it shows some things never change. As we have powerful and influential open border advocates now, so to did they exist nearly a century ago. The steamship operators wanted more passengers, as did the railways once they got there. Then as now the churches clamored for open borders as well to fill the pews to say nothing of the labor concerns. The author clearly demonstrates the blood of a nation is as important to its character as the dominant tongue or faith.

Conquest of a Continent Madison Grant 9781366844538 Books Reviews
I like this book because it shows where the alt right and kkk got their ideas on themes like racial superiority. The non racist segment of America needs to read and study this book well, so we know the ignorance America is fighting against in it's fight for equality. And I like how one reviewer stated that the book was written at a time when people were not tarred and feathered for not speaking against the majority. And the pun is however it was written when people were tarred and feathered because of the color of their skin? Where does this blatant ignorance in mankind come from? All men may not be equal genetically but all men do have a soul given them by God which is equal in all men. Please get over this superiority complex you are championing, you are at war with God, Providence or whatever you hold holy with these ideas. You are in arms against Our Creator!
I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO REVIEW THIS BOOK. APPARENTLY AMAZON, WHICH IS TRYING TO SELL THIS BOOK, DIDN'T LIKE A POSITIVE REVIEW OF THIS BOOK. CRAZY!
I recommend this book, but because of 's attitude which is perverse, buy it eleswhere. I suggest through American Renaissance's website. Anyway, here's the review that was axed by . I managed to copy it
The best endorsement this book ever has was from the Anti-Defamation League in 1933. This self-appointed liberal censorship lobby advised
"We are interested in stifling the sale of this book. We believe that this can be best accomplished by refusing to be stampeded into giving it publicity. Every review or public criticism of the book of this character brings it to the attention of many who would otherwise know nothing of it. This results in added sales. The less discussion there is concerning it, the more sales resistance will be created."
This has been the attitude of the liberal establishment ever since Ignore it and it will go away. This is definitely one book 'they' don't want you to read. All the more reason to read it, from cover to cover.
The contents explain why America became great and spread from ocean to ocean. It wasn't just an accident of history but the inherent destiny of a great race. Madison saw clearly that the fate of nations ALWAYS depended on their racial content, a view that has been suppressed for decades by the PC media, the establishment, and pro-immigration big business, even though science and common sense have always backed up the fact that different races behave on average in quite different ways.
When it first appeared back in the 30s, Henry Fairfleld Osborn commented, "The character of a country depends upon the racial character of the men and women who dominate it. I welcome this volume as the first attempt to give an authentic racial history of our country."
Unfortunately, this great book came out in the era of Nazi Germany, when the excesses of that group of extremists cast a subjective shadow on the objective notion of racial difference. The book has languished in relative obscurity ever since although its message has never been more relevant to an America that is changing its racial composition by the day.
Madison Grant is America's pioneering environmentalist. It is through his efforts that the great Redwood Forest survives, it is through his sweat that the buffalo still lives on the plains, and it is his ideas on conservation that continue to be used today.
In this book Madison Grant takes his ideas on controversy to a different level, preservation of the Native Americans-that is to say, the original North Western Europeans who founded the original 13 Colonies and their descendents.
This book uses history to support this people-whom Grant terms-Nordics. He argues that the America's creation and western expansion was carried out by the Nordics originating from the Eastern Seaboard. He plays particular attention to the Scots-Irish (Ulster Scots in his terms), the Puritans from New England, and the all-important expansion of colonial stock Nordic Pioneers from Virginia.
In many ways this book is an earlier version of David Hackett Fischer's extremely useful studies on America (Albion's Seed & Bound Away Virginia and the Westward Movement). Madison Grant and David Hackett Fischer's conclusions are remarkably alike. Indeed Madison Grants use of Congregationalist Churches as a proxy for Puritan Western expansion in a map, matches very much Fischer's topographic use of accents to draw the same conclusions.
There is one keen difference between Grant and Fischer-Madison Grant is using these historical facts to serve in an ethnic conflict. He was concerned about the influx of immigrants from Eastern and Southern Europe as well as America's vexing "Negro Problem." In this book, Grant weaves in to the history of western expansion evidence that the immigrants and blacks are often opposed to the interests, burdensome in many ways, and sometimes wholly hostile to the Nordics. Additionally, the Nordics made America with little help from any other people.
Grant adds a careful study of Latin America and the threat it poses to the Nordics also.
In the decades since Madison Grant's successful efforts to end the vexing immigrant wave from 1880 to 1914, immigration from Europe has not resumed. Many Southern and Eastern Europeans left during the Great Depression, and most of those who stayed successfully assimilated. Today however, immigrants comes from even more foreign, and to put it bluntly, even more hostile parts of the world. Assimilation is no longer a reasonable hope. Indeed if it wasn't for immigration, there wouldn't have been a 9-11, or a Boston Bombing. Indeed, had Madison Grant's warnings about "Bolsheviki" and "the recrudescence of obsolete religious forms" been more carefully heeded, there might not have been an Office of Special Plans to cook up the Iraq War.
In sum, this book is a masterful study of American History which carefully lays out the actual threats that the sons and daughters of the American Pioneers face on their home turf. It isn't a far off tin-pot dictator that "oppresses his own people," nor is it the scribblings of a desert prophet, nor any Crowned Head or Chancellor of Europe and his polished legions. One's threat is far closer, and far more empowered by the very government that was created by the Nordics on the civilization carved from the wilderness they conquered.
